چکیده
Abstract We investigate the syntax of hitherto understudied phenomenon first conjunct clitic doubling, with reference to Modern Greek. argue that it provides crucial evidence against movement-based approaches which would incorrectly rule out doubling as a violation Coordinate Structure Constraint. This argument movement is complemented by from binding, showing doubled DPs consistently occupy their base positions. The Greek data instead favor an account based purely on feature transmission via Agree. develop Agree-based analysis facts, and show existing for in (Weak Crossover alleviation, suspension intervention effects) can be insightfully reanalyzed. alleviation Weak effects receives more straightforward compared approaches, subsumed under general mitigating information structure (givenness, topicality); pattern follows once activity DP related involvement its phi-features Agree operations; distribution implemented means licensing approach, assimilating differential object marking. Finally, we address two morphological aspects are often taken challenging account, namely, syncretism between determiners clitics, tense invariance. that, upon closer inspection, former no less while latter cannot considered reliable diagnostic tease apart agreement doubling.

Clitic-Agreement Doubling in Yurok
Abstract In Clitic-Agreement Doubling, Φ-features of the same verbal argument are simultaneously expressed by pronominal clitics and verbal agreement. The Algic language Yurok (Robins, 1958) exhibits CliticAgreement Doubling (CAD) in specific syntactic contexts requiring clitics in addition to agreement, but provides also strategies to avoid this type of redundancy by suppressing otherwise expe...

This work follows the progression of a grammatical construction that unifies the Romanian accusative preposition pe with a coreferential pronominal clitic, together forming the cd-pe construction. On the basis of historical texts, it is argued that these two grammatical phenomena evolved into a clause-level construction with a dedicated semantics and pragmatics in the modern language. A corpus ...
